No Cheese: a photography workshop for mamas {st. louis portrait photographer}

April 12, 2010

so, i’ve been thinking of doing some sort of workshop for moms for a long time. i can’t tell you how many times people have told me how lucky i am to be able to take the pictures i do of our son, harrison {he’s the darling little guy in the second picture below..and yes, i’m unapologetically biased :) }.  how lucky i am to be able to document our memories the way i do. this is definitely not lost on me! i am so truly lucky and grateful for the gift and ability i have to document my son’s life, our lives,  in such a truly unique way.

so, i really started to think about this. i know not everyone is going to have the time, desire or the financial resources {for let’s face it, photography is an ex.pen.sive hobby/profession to get into} to be able to take professional-level photographs of their children. but why can’t everyone still learn some of what i know so that they too can take beautiful pictures…pictures they’ll want to show off, pictures that will showcase their children’s personalities, pictures that will evoke emotion. i didn’t think this was a concept that was so outside of the realm of possibility…in fact, i thought it was quite doable. from there, i thought, researched, thought some more and finally came up with our No Cheese workshop.  if you’re looking to become a professional photographer, i’m afraid this isn’t the workshop for you. it’s taken me 10 years, much practice and many days of educating myself about photography to get to where i am professionally. so if you want to make a living out of taking pictures, then you better read, read, read and practice, practice, practice! :) but if you’d like to some tips, tricks, ideas and info on how to document your children’s lives with better images, then you’ll definitely want to join us! i think this is a really unique opportunity for moms, grandmas, really anyone who wants to capture their loved ones on film, er, card, and do so with some pizazz. it’ll provide a great foundation for taking better pictures and well, it’ll be a hoot! just email me at rochelle@crwstudio.com for more info!

happy living!

heart day mini sessions, a vintage maternity session and brooch bouquets {st. louis wedding and portrait photographer}

February 16, 2010

so much to share today! i recently had a very cool maternity session with my friend sara, her husband and their son at the very cool once upon a bash in maplewood. i’ll be writing more about once upon a bash and sharing more pictures soon, but i wanted to include a little sneak peak from the session. the little vintage ditty in the slideshow below will just have to do for now. oh, be sure to check out the checkered floor..how awesome is that?!?!

and in an attempt to quench your hunger for eye candy, i also have a little sneak peak from our heart day mini sessions. this was such a fun group of kiddos to photograph. from the two aiden’s who kept turning the heart upside down to douglas, who had a couple of pez candies and kept me on my toes. :) oh, and i definitely can’t forget joey, annabeth, michael and eva. we talked, we laughed, we had fun. what a great day of mini sessions!

and last, but definitely not least, i came across an awesome idea thanks to daily candy and brooch bouquets. let your eyes behold this gloriously awesome bouquet in the slideshow below! again, how awesome is that?!?! a la pee wee’s place house, that is our phrase of  the day. but seriously, it’s such a unique take on a wedding day staple. and, if you use jewelry from friends and family members, you’ll have your something borrowed!

[showtime]

well, that’s it for today. i hope you enjoyed the eye candy! and i hope you had a fabulous heart day!
